Lt Cdr Wells will present some insights into the operations of the Defence Accident Investigation Branch. Newly housed at MOD Boscombe Down the Branch has amalgamated Tri-Service accident investigation in one location. He will give a brief oversight of the DAIB organisation, investigator training and some recent case studies.

Lt Cdr J M C Wells Rn

Jonathan Wells is a Naval helicopter pilot currently assigned to the DAIB as an Operations Investigator. Since Wings qualification in 1981 he has flown in many operational theatres and instructed on the Sea King, Wasp and Merlin aircraft as well as holding executive positions in the Fleet Air Arm. He also served for 3 years as the Maintenance Test Pilot for Sea King and Merlin. This is Jonathan’s second tour as an accident investigator. He qualified in 2013 and after a 3 years tour he had spell back in the Merlin cockpit and later 2 years with Leonardo as the Chief Instructor in Norway.
