When a Lancaster went missing and failed to return from operations during WWII the parents of the missing crew members would often be left with little information as to what had happened to their sons.

Lancaster Bale Out
– Clive Smith
Clive Smith has been interested in aviation from an early age, growing up near Gatwick and watching the planes there. He has worked in the Aerospace industry, specialising in software, for the last 20 years and has worked on a number of aircraft projects such as Nimrod, Harrier and Tornado. For the last 5 years he has been working in Air Traffic Control at NATS, on the engineering side.
He has flown in over 25 types of aircraft the most notable ones being a Harvard, a Nimrod and Concorde and has also taxied in a Lancaster. He has been interested in Bomber Command research for the last 25 years.
When a Lancaster went missing and failed to return from operations during WWII the parents of the missing crew members would often be left with little information as to what had happened to their sons.
The talk will also cover how a crew came together and begun flying operations together night after night over Germany until things went wrong and they became another aircraft missing in action.
