It is 12 years since the A380 first took to the skies and 10 years since it entered service with Singapore Airlines. Today there are over 200 in service with 13 of the world’s best airlines.
This aircraft has a maximum take-off weight of 572 tonnes and operates on some of the longest routes. She flies daily to over 50 airports transporting hundreds of thousands of people. More than 10% of passengers at London Heathrow will be on one.
The lecture will describe some of the engineering that went into its development and also look at the continued support issues that have occurred since entry into service. The lecture will also discuss some incidents on other aircraft with which the speaker has been involved.
To conclude will be some personal opinions on the future of this fantastic iconic aircraft.
