I am pleased to announce the details for the upcoming branch visit to Haslar Marine Technology Park, Gosport, on the 19th August 2016. Haslar Marine Technology Park is home for QinetiQ’s hydrodynamic research facilities and has an impressive 160 years of history. We can expect to be shown around the Ship Tank, Ocean Basin, Cavitation Tunnel and the Diving and Hyperbaric test centre. These are however subject to change due to operational commitments.
I have been advised that due to Haslar’s layout, there will be considerable walking between facilities and that there are many flights of stairs within the facilities, so any visitors must be mobile enough to cope with this (as unfortunately they do not have lifts).
The visit will commence at MOD Boscombe Down at 08:00 where a coach will take the group straight to Haslar. Following the tour at 13:00 we will head for lunch at Trinity’s at the lightship. The coach will return to Boscombe for 17:00. I kindly ask you to pre order your lunch from the fixed price menu as part the application form, this is available on request.
Our numbers are limited to 28; these places will be issued on a first come first serve basis. In order to secure a place on the visit you must return the attached form completed. As of 05/08/16 we currently have 5 places remaining.
Only once your place has been confirmed full payment of £30 is kindly requested within five days of your application. The fee of £30 includes a two course meal at Trinity’s at the lightship and return transport by coach (This does not include any drinks).
